Caitlyn had some thinking to do. She needed to get away. She googled a few vacation spots. She opted for a four day trip to the Bahamas. She made her reservations and logged off. Her cell phone rang. Bridget’s name flashed across the screen.
“What’s up sis?”
She listened as Bridget described her dilemma. “I need someone to watch Danielle. If you do, I owe you one.”
“Girl, please. Drop off my beautiful niece. Besides, it’s time her and I got better acquainted.”
An hour later, Bridget dropped off little Danielle Marie. She was cute as a button and looked just like her auntie; so Caitlyn claimed. “Thank you for doing this. Matt just found out about this trip and you know he’s trying to keep this job. We’ll be gone one night, two tops.”
“Don’t worry. Me and little Dani, will be fine.” Caitlyn played with her pacifier. “Besides, I can always call my new friend Nikki if I need some baby advice.”
Bridget looked at her sideways. She kissed Danielle on the forehead. “Bye baby. Mama promises to call you every hour. Don’t give your auntie a hard time,” Bridget said. “She likes to listen to music when she sleeps. Something soft, preferably jazz.”
“Okay. Now go, before you miss your flight and please, don’t call me every hour.”
Caitlyn played with Danielle until she fell asleep. Caitlyn went to clean up some and was surprised when she returned to the living room to see Blake holding Danielle. “She’s so cute,” he said, as he rocked her in his arms.
“She was sleep,” Caitlyn responded, as she took her from his arms and placed her back in the car seat.
“You look so cute holding her,” he commented.
“Now that you’re here, we’ll just go upstairs so we won’t be in your way.”
“Don’t go. She’ll be just fine right here.”
She hesitated. She placed the car seat back near the sofa. She watched her sleep. “I wish I could sleep that sound.”
“You and me both,” Blake added. “How long will Danielle be with us?”
Caitlyn noticed he used the word “us” instead of “you.” “Bridget and Matt had to go out of town so I agreed to watch her for a few days.”
Danielle started crying. Blake beat her to the car seat. “No, let me.” He paused. “She just needs her diaper changed.”
“Let me go get her diaper bag and I’ll change her.”
“I got it. Bring me the diaper and her wipes. I’ll be in the downstairs bedroom to the left.”
Caitlyn stood there in disbelief for a minute. Okay, who was that man? Where was Blake? Christopher was in training pants, so how did Blake know anything about changing diapers? She went upstairs and retrieved the diaper bag. “Here’s the diaper and the wipes. This I have to see. Mr. CEO changing a baby’s diaper.”
“Watch and learn. Watch and learn,” he said, as he changed Danielle’s diaper. She seemed to like Blake. He picked her up and she smiled.
Blake handed her to Caitlyn, but Danielle wasn’t having it. She started whining. “Traitor,” Caitlyn teased.
“She loves her Uncle Blake.” He kissed Danielle on the cheek as she squirmed to get away from Caitlyn.
“Here. Take her. I’ll go warm up her bottle.”
“Do I sense some jealousy?” he asked, as he cradled Danielle in his arms.
“You better be glad you’re holding my niece, or I would pop you.”
“Duly noted.”
Chapter 53
Blake took the next day off to spend time with Caitlyn. He told Caitlyn it was to help her out with Danielle. Christopher was there too so they were like one big happy family. A delivery guy rang the doorbell. Blake signed for the package. It was addressed to Caitlyn from Destination Travels.
Danielle was sleeping in her seat and Christopher had fallen asleep on the love seat. Caitlyn sat on the couch typing on her laptop. Blake handed Caitlyn the envelope. “So you’re going on a trip?” he asked.
“To the Bahamas for a couple of days. You know for a little R & R.”
“When do you leave?”
“A day after Bridget and Matt return from their trip.”
She pulled out the ticket and the brochures. Danielle started crying. Blake picked her up. “It’s okay. Uncle Blake’s here.”
“You’re spoiling her.”
“That’s what uncles are for.”
Caitlyn smiled. “I thought I was bad. She has you wrapped around her little finger.”
He tickled her. “She sure does. She can get anything she wants from Uncle Blake, just like her auntie.”
Caitlyn didn’t comment.
Blake didn’t know who was more sad to see Danielle go, him, Caitlyn, or Christopher. He could tell Bridget and Matt missed Danielle, because they practically ignored them when they stopped by to pick her up.
“Chris, we’ll have to see if you can come visit Dani, okay lil’ man,” Matt said, picking him up and letting him get a closer look at Dani.
“Anytime you need a babysitter, we’re here,” Blake said.
Caitlyn rolled her eyes at him. “She’s a good baby. Auntie’s going to miss you.” Caitlyn tucked in her blanket.
Bridget hugged them both. “Well, we better get going. I don’t like having her out in the night air.”
“Thanks Man.” Matt shook Blake’s hand. He hugged Caitlyn. “See you later Cat.”
Blake held Christopher as they all stood in the doorway watching them leave. “Are you hungry?” he asked Caitlyn.
“How about a hamburger?”
“Ham-urger,” Christopher said.
“Two votes in. I’ll throw a couple on the grill.”
”I’ll chop up the lettuce and tomatoes.”
Blake fired up his grill and an hour later, they all sat around the kitchen table.
“Cat, these past few days have been great.”
“Children will do it to you,” she responded after taking a bite of her hamburger. He wiped her mouth with his napkin.
“Sorry, I couldn’t resist.”
“Blake, it’s okay.”
He felt like a shy teenager. He avoided eye contact. Watching Caitlyn and Christopher interact with one another tugged at his heart. Blake wanted more kids and he wanted Caitlyn to be their mother. Blake no longer wanted the divorce.
“I’ll get the dishes,” Caitlyn volunteered.
Christopher and Blake went to the living room. He picked up the traveling brochure on the coffee table. He made a mental note of the hotel. He felt like going on a mini-vacation himself. Later that night, he went online and made plane reservations. He called the hotel and booked him a room.
A few days later, Blake eyed the beautiful ocean water as his jet landed. By his watch, Caitlyn should be settled into her hotel. He found out which room she was staying in at the Atlantis Hotel on Paradise Island and booked the room right across from hers. He had to pay extra but it would be well worth it.
Blake slept on the plane so he was well rested. Once he got settled into his room, he called Byron to check on Christopher. Not long afterwards, he tried to get in contact with Caitlyn. She didn’t answer after several tries. He showered and changed into something more befitting of being in the Bahamas and went in search of his woman—his wife.
The hotel lobby was crowded due to a convention. There were a lot of people so Blake had his work cut out for him in locating Caitlyn. He paused for a moment. If he was Caitlyn where would he be? He knew she loved shopping so he passed by some of the shops in the mall portion of the resort.
He gave up on finding Caitlyn and decided to lounge on the beach. He bought a few items and went outside of the resort to find the perfect spot; preferable a spot with some shade. Blake heard her laughter, before he saw Caitlyn’s face.
He turned to see her grinning and laughing in the face of another man. His gray eyes darkened. “So is this why she didn’t invite me on her trip?”
Chapter 54
Caitlyn couldn’t get Blake out of her mind no matter wher
e she went. For a second, she thought she saw him standing near the entranceway to the aquarium. She blinked a few times and he was gone. Her love for him had her hallucinating. She took this trip to get Blake out of her system, but it wasn’t working. Seeing the couples made her wish she could enjoy moments like that with Blake.
Caitlyn removed the wrap, fully exposing her gold two piece swimsuit. She rubbed sun blocker on her arms and legs and placed the big matching gold shades she had recently purchased over her eyes. She retrieved Michelle McGriff’s latest thriller from her bag and spent the rest of the afternoon lounging on the beach and reading. She had planned on taking a nap, but the story kept her turning the pages. She finished the book just as the sun was going down.
McGriff’s book had her looking over her shoulder. She became super aware of strangers as she walked back to the hotel. She wondered if any of them had done something as dangerous as some of the characters in the book she just finished reading.
A beautiful array of flowers adorned the table in her room. She read the card and smiled. “I miss you. Love J.”
Knowing Blake cared enough to send flowers made her day. She missed him too. But reality stood between them. Their relationship started because of a business deal and it would end because of it. Caitlyn wanted Blake’s love, but was it too late for them to make things work? She poured herself a glass of wine from the bar in her room. She held the glass up in the air. “Here’s to a life without Blake.”
An hour later, Caitlyn entered the hotel restaurant. “How many?” the maitre’ d asked.
“A table.” Caitlyn didn’t finish her statement.
“For two would be nice.”
“Blake?”
“In the flesh. Thought I would join you for dinner.”
They followed the maitre’d. “You came all the way here to have dinner with me?” she asked.
“I got here this morning.”
“But why didn’t you tell me you were coming?”
“To have you change your plans. Miss the surprise look on your face. No way. It was priceless.”
Blake pulled Caitlyn’s chair back as she took her seat. “I should have known you were near. I thought I saw you earlier today near the aquarium. Why didn’t you make yourself known?”
“I didn’t know you were near,” he lied.
Caitlyn’s stomach growled. “Hold that thought. I need some food.”
“So what did you do today?”
Caitlyn described some of her tour excursions. She didn’t mean to get animated, but couldn’t help it because it was the first time she had swam with dolphins.
“I should have come a day earlier. I would have loved to have seen you.”
“I have pictures.”
“But there’s nothing like experiencing it for yourself.”
Dinner with Blake seemed natural. They laughed. They talked. Things didn’t seem tense like they did back in Dallas. After going back and forth on who would pay for the meal, Caitlyn relented and let him pay. Besides, in a few short weeks, she would be back to paying for everything.
Blake convinced her to join him in the casino. The vibe in the casino hyped her into wanting to play the slot machines. Blake headed straight for the Blackjack tables, so she followed suit. After winning the first few hands, he started losing.
“Do you want to play?” he asked.
“I’m not good at it.”
“Come on. Play a few hands.” He handed her some chips. “Use these.”
“Don’t get mad if I lose them now.”
“Have some fun.” He moved out of the seat and let her sit down.
Caitlyn had to admit, playing blackjack was fun; especially since she didn’t have to worry about losing any of her money. She won and lost a few, but by the time she finished, she was in the lead two hundred and fifty dollars. She handed the chips to Blake. “I think these belong to you.”
“Their yours.”
“In that case, let’s go cash them in so we can play the slots.”
Caitlyn had fun playing the slots. When she hit the jackpot, she didn’t know who was more excited; her or Blake. The coins from the machine overflowed on to the floor. One of the casino workers helped them put them in a huge tray. She jumped up and down. Blake wrapped his arm around her waist as they casino cashier counted out the coins. Caitlyn opted to have the money wired to her account. She didn’t want anyone to hit her upside the head and take her money before she had time to enjoy it.
“Looks like you can afford to treat me to a night out on the town,” Blake joked.
She looped her arm through Blake’s. “Can you believe it? Two hundred thousand dollars. From a slot machine. I’ve been to Shreveport and played the slots and the most I ever won was maybe a hundred dollars.”
“Try the blackjack tables the next time.”
“Only if you come with me,” she flirted.
“How about a nightcap?”
“It’s been a long day. Besides, I’m sure you’re tired.”
“What’s on your agenda for tomorrow?”
“I’m going to the Straw Market.”
The elevator door opened. Caitlyn pressed seven. She waited for Blake to press his floor, but he never did.
He asked, “Do you mind if I tag along?”
“It’s up to you. I plan on being there all day.”
“I’ll sacrifice for you.”
“It’s a date.”
The elevator door opened and they both exited.
“I’m right down there,” Blake informed her.
“So am I?”
He extended his hand out. “Lead the way.”
Chapter 55
Blake’s room was right across the hallway from Caitlyn’s. Blake waved as she entered her room. She waved back. She let out a huge sigh, once she was behind closed doors. Questions ran through her mind. What is Blake up to? Will he ask me for a divorce now? Couldn’t he have waited until I got back to the States? To unwind, Caitlyn lounged on her balcony and enjoyed the ocean breeze. The moonlit night cast a beautiful view of the ocean and sand. The knock at the door broke the trance. She looked through the peephole.
“What’s up?” Caitlyn asked, when she opened the door to Blake standing there in his blue terry cloth robe.
“You,” he said, as he walked across the threshold and kissed her with an intensity that left her breathless.
Blake swooped her up in his arms and carried her to the bed. Caitlyn wanted to resist, but her body didn’t agree with her mind. “Blake, maybe we should wait?” she said, not wanting him to stop.
“I’ve waited months. I want you Cat and I can’t wait another day.”
“But…” she kept saying as his lips enclosed her right nipple. Her body arched and the only sounds out of her mouth at this point are moans.
“I want you Cat. Tell me that you want me too.”
“Blakeeee,” she said, between clenched teeth as his kisses found her g-spot.
“I love you Caitlyn,” he said, as he looked into her eyes and their bodies united.
“I love you too Blake.”
The moment she said those words, Blake seemed to swell within her. They couldn’t seem to get enough of each other. Multiple orgasms erupted through her sending her body into a spasm. She called out his name. He called out her name. Their souls united. No one else mattered, but Blake. Pleasing Blake.
They made love throughout the night and off and on the next day. The sun beaming through the opened balcony door woke Caitlyn up. Blake wrapped his arm around her body. She snuggled closer to Blake. She closed her eyes. She fell back asleep and woke when she felt Blake move.
“What time is it?” Blake asked, as he squeezed her.
“I have no idea.”
Blake moved so he could see the clock. “Dear, we’ve been sleep all day. It’s almost six o’clock.”
“I didn’t realize it was that late.”
“Neither did I. Let’s go out tonight. I’ll go get dressed and meet you ba
ck here in say an hour.”
Blake didn’t wait for her to respond. He got up and wrapped his robe around his body. He looked so sexy that her body craved for him to return to her bed. She knew if she called out his name, he would be happy to oblige; instead she remained quiet and watched him walk out the door.
Blake’s phone rang as he was putting on his shoes. “Mr. Banks everything’s ready,” the hotel manager said from the other end.
“Thank you. We’ll be down in a few minutes.”
Caitlyn came into Blake’s life like a whirlwind and he couldn’t imagine his life without her. It took a lifetime to find someone who he genuinely cared for. Many women had tried to make him love them, but they failed. Caitlyn didn’t try yet she had his heart. If they had to stay on Paradise Island for the rest of their lives, he would sell his company and do so. There was no way he would let Caitlyn divorce him.
He went across the hall to get Caitlyn. Wearing a strapless short black sequins dress and four inch Cinderella crystal clear heels, she had him mesmerized. He wanted to take his jacket off and cover her up so no other man could look at her. Blake knew what kind of thoughts would cross their mind, because he was having quite a few naughty ones himself. He brushed the curls flowing from the side of Caitlyn’s pent up hair and kissed her on the cheek.
“I hope I didn’t overdress.”
Blake wanted to respond, “Undress.” But instead he said, “You look great as usual.”
They rode the black stretch limousine to the pier. Blake helped Caitlyn get on the rented yacht. “Welcome to the Enchanted,” the captain said. “My staff is here to serve. Madame, can we get you a drink?”
“I’ll have a Sprite for now,” Caitlyn responded.
“And you sir?”
“Nothing for me right now.”
They followed the captain into what appeared to be a dining room. The tables were covered in fine china.
“I’ll send a waitress in to take your order. I’ve included a menu on the table.”
The captain pulled Caitlyn’s chair out. When they were left alone, Caitlyn said, “I could get used to this service.”
